JAMBI – The College of Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) and the College of Islamic Education (STIT) Al-Azhar Diniyyah Jambi successfully held the Commencement Ceremony for the 14th Cohort of STKIP and the 10th Cohort of STIT for the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The ceremony was marked by a solemn yet celebratory atmosphere, serving as a meaningful milestone for graduates as they embark on a new chapter of service and contribution to society.
The event was attended by a number of distinguished guests representing government, education, and community institutions, including Prof. Dr. Fasli Jalal, Sp.GK., Ph.D., Expert Advisor to the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, who also delivered the keynote address. Ms. Rahmi, S.E., M.Si., representing the Coordinator of LLDIKTI Region X; Mr. Arief Munandar, S.E., representing the Governor of Jambi in his capacity as Assistant I for Government Affairs; Dr. H. Jamrizal, M.Pd., representing Kopertais Region XIII; Mr. Drs. Ahmad Sobri, M.Ag., representing BAZNAS of Jambi Province; and Police Commissioner Ricko A. A. Taruna, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., M.M., representing the Jambi Regional Police Chief.
The ceremony was officially opened by Dr. H. Abdul Muhaimin El-Yusufi, B.Sy.E., M.E., Chairman of STKIP Al-Azhar Diniyyah Jambi. In his remarks, he stated that graduation does not mark the end of an educational journey, but rather the beginning of a broader commitment to serving society. He expressed hope that graduates would continue to uphold Islamic values, apply the knowledge they had gained, and bring genuine benefit to the community. Equipped with both knowledge and strong moral character, graduates were encouraged to become individuals of value to their faith, society, nation, and country.
Representing the Governor of Jambi, Mr. Arief Munandar, S.E., Assistant I for Government Affairs, extended his support and appreciation for the role of STKIP and STIT Al-Azhar Diniyyah Jambi in advancing education and improving the quality of human resources in Jambi Province. He noted that higher education institutions play a strategic role in preparing a generation that is competent, principled, and equipped to meet the challenges of an evolving era.
The ceremony proceeded with the keynote address delivered by Prof. Dr. Fasli Jalal, Sp.GK., Ph.D., Expert Advisor to the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. In his address, he commended the growth and progress achieved by STKIP and STIT Al-Azhar Diniyyah Jambi and offered a series of important messages to the graduating class.
Prof. Fasli Jalal opened his address by paying tribute to the parents of the graduates, acknowledging the time, thought, resources, and unceasing prayers they had devoted along the way. He noted that the graduates’ achievements were made possible in no small part by their parents’ unwavering support and trust in giving them the opportunity to pursue higher education.
He went on to emphasize that graduation is not the end of a journey, but the beginning of a far more demanding stage of life. During their time on campus, students benefit from a structured environment guided by faculty mentorship and an organized academic system. Upon entering the working world, however, graduates must be prepared to make independent decisions, navigate complex challenges, and take full responsibility for the choices they make. For this reason, he urged graduates to step confidently beyond their comfort zones, to chart a clear roadmap for their lives, and to embrace lifelong learning as an ongoing pursuit.
Prof. Fasli Jalal also addressed the rapid pace of change in today’s world, particularly the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. He observed that knowledge and skills acquired today can quickly become outdated without continuous renewal. Graduates, he said, must cultivate adaptability, critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to lifelong learning.
He further noted that the advancement of AI should not be viewed solely as a threat, but also as an opportunity. While technology can significantly enhance human productivity, distinctly human qualities of empathy, compassion, integrity, moral character, and humanistic values remain indispensable strengths that technology cannot replace.
Prof. Fasli Jalal also drew attention to Indonesia’s demographic dividend, describing it as both an opportunity and a challenge for the younger generation. He stressed that this demographic advantage can only be harnessed as a driving force for national development through quality education, strong health outcomes, a robust work ethic, and a firm foundation of faith, piety, and noble character. He further highlighted the strategic importance of three key areas in human resource development: Early Childhood Education (PAUD), English Language Education, and Islamic Education/Tarbiyah Studies.
According to Prof. Fasli Jalal, early childhood education represents a vital investment, as the early years are a foundational period for brain development, cognitive growth, essential skills, and character formation in children. English language education, meanwhile, serves as a strategic gateway to global communication, while Islamic education and Tarbiyah studies form the cornerstone for building a strong foundation of faith, piety, and noble character. Taken together, he noted, today’s graduates are called upon not only to demonstrate academic competence, but also to embody strong character, social awareness, and a genuine commitment to contributing meaningfully to society.
The ceremony continued with the reading of the official graduation decree, the formal conferral of degrees upon the graduates, and the symbolic presentation of diplomas to graduate representatives. The proceedings unfolded with dignity and solemnity, marking a moment of great joy for the graduates and their families.
